Yesterday my bro and his friend and I, went to go see the highly anticipated movie. "Transformers: Rise of the Fallen" er something like that, at the Century 16 theaters. The room was jammed packed and every one was buzzing.

Upon watching the movie, I can say we did enjoy the action, amazing fight scenes and nifty music soundtrack (Though I think the speakers in our theater were broken, because none of the side speakers were working and it REALLy took away from the movie's whole atmosphere))

The fighting scenes were quite impressive, as well as the mix live and CG scenes. It was nice to see the old autobots and some of the newly added characters (They even had Soundwave, or whatever his name is) they were also the epic (abit small for my taste) female bots that used epic hologram technology. Can’t say much for the main actors, they did well interacting with the special effects and it was nice to see the ompalumpa from the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. There were a few scenes where it seemed abit too cartoony, and other times when a scene seemed just pointless and lame. Nevertheless, I can say the movie WAS a decent and I recommend it pretty much anyone looking for a good action movie (with stereotypical and slap joke humour)

SO most of you are probably going WTF Sora, 9/10 WAI!? (Probably the main reason why I am writing this poorly done review, is to rant YAy~)

Well as most of you have probably heard. there are two characters that just get under my skin. they go by the name of Skid and Mudflap ( You wont actually hear their or the Motor girl's names)

They are two pint sized, bickering, slag throwing (Ebonicly challenged), none reading, buck toothed (with one gold tooth) and deformed auto bots. Said to have gotten their entire awful stereotypical repertoire from the Internet or BET. Created "Mainly for the kids." These badmouthing bots are the replacements technically for the auto bot (AnD ONLY AUTO BOT WHO DIED, ) Jazz.

The 1st moment I seen them I had HOPED..and wished that the movie didn't hold a "Jar Jar Binks" clone, but as the movie continued I actually dreaded seeing scenes with them in it. Either they were fighting, calling names or just wanted up space. Of course they were the comedy relief, but the way they portrayed the 'unbiased data' downloaded from the net, racks my brain to NO end for the simple fact that, BET, consists of mainly: mainstream rap and R&B music videos and urban-oriented movies, public affair programs, and (hypocritically) Christian programming and if they download it from the net you’ve also have affiliated sites and international TV networks. I would figure they would be an insane combination of all of the programs listed above, and then you have BET UK, and BET J, which consist of various OTHER programs.


As an logical person, I can stop and say.. Well they are "robots” but then my logic asks. "What 'unbiased data' did these two download??' as new robots were they pointed in that direction (Which wouldn’t make sense seeing as they do work with a highly intelligent and disciplined African American soldier) How did they single out those few traits without balancing out the ignorance. I mean, they are in the presence of other autobots who are on the other side of the spectrum personality wise. (Even Jazz was an intelligent leader, yeah he had a mouth but he portrayed both the positive and negative traits of the race he ‘downloaded’ his information from) there are too many holes and gasps in their character design.

Race wise, as an African American I am greatly offended by the portrayal of "data' these two robots downloaded, and the fact that they are misshaped (one eye larger the other, small head BIG body, fairly clumsy) , big lipped, buck tooth, ignorant, violent and uneducated bots. I really do think it’s a shame that these two were portrayed the way they are.. Whether for an advertisement marketing scheme (For kids, which I call CROC . _ . that movie is NOT for kids, you’ve got, drugs, sex, cussing, violence, racial and deformity belittling) I believe the movie could have been better with out them. They were created on the ‘choosen’ stereotypes of the maker, who seriously should’ve been aware of the coincidences that are taking place within the African (or any community that was offended)

I've read various reviews and most had said that, if the characters were hispanic or asian.. No one would say anything; I would have to disagree on this. Any caricature that displays and or exploits an ethnic group in a bad (sexual preference, illness whatever you have it) should be put down. These Jar Jar Bots are probably what’s going to be the downside of the movie. Just like Stupid parents were the downside of the movie “Watchmen.”

This is how I feel, I’ve seen it various times and tried to ignore it..but it really grinds my gears.. you wanna see the movie then go see it but I can tell you now, even if yer NOT African they will annoy you . _ .;
